Counter Protest in Charleston TODAY!

Operation Rescue-Insurrecta Nex, led by Randall Terry, will hold a demonstration today in front of the Federal Courthouse building (300 Virginia Street, Charleston).  While there is no funding for abortion or euthanasia in the proposed health care reform legislation, Mr. Terry's group is using those issues to rally opposition against this important reform.  Please join others to counter-protest today at 4:00 PM.  Consider bring a sign saying "Tell the Truth for a Change"  "Healthcare Not Lies" or whatever moves you!

Public Hearing on Judicial Campaign Financing, Friday, Aug. 28

The first of three public hearings with the Governor's Judicial Reform Commission, will be held next Friday, August 28, 2009 in Huntington at Marshall University Memorial Student Center, Room 2W16.  The Commission has a full day of presentations scheduled from 9AM to 3PM, including a number of speakers on the topic of public financing. The public comment/hearing is expected to begin at 2PM. This is an opportunity to express our support for public financing for judicial elections in West Virginia.  We would really appreciate your support at the hearings to keep the possibility of public financing in front of the Commission. If you would like a copy of the complete agenda for August 28, please e-mail julie@wvcag.org.  We hope to see several of you there. However if you can't make the Huntington meeting you will have a chance to make comments at future meeting in Morgantown (September 21) and Charleston (September 28). The Commission is also accepting written materials and comments. For more information visit http://www.judicialreform.wv.gov.
