Vote Expected Any Time on Tax Cuts and Unemployment!

Today is a make-or-break moment in the fight to let the Bush-Cheney tax cuts for the wealthy expire as planned at the end of this year. It appears a compromise is in the works that would  benefit the wealthy.

Please call Senators Manchin now and demand "no deals on tax cuts for the wealthy."

Ask Congressman Mollohan to Support the Dream Act

From National Immigration Forum:

Thousands of immigrant young people were brought to this country by their parents years ago and have since grown up here, gone to school here and are now American in every way but their paperwork. Because of their immigration status, they cannot go to college or serve in our military.

The DREAM Act will allow these young people to stay, continue their education or serve in the military, and give them an opportunity to contribute to our society.

Please call Rep. Alan Mollohan today toll-free at 1-866-606-1189 to ask him to support the Dream Act.

Important Public Meetings on Health Exchanges Scheduled

Health exchanges are marketplaces where small businesses and individuals can buy health insurance with easy-to-understand information on all their options. Consumers, including small businesses, will be able to purchase health insurance through a web site or 1-800 number operated by the exchange or through a insurance agent's office. Depending on how exchanges are operated, they can transform the insurance market by improving quality -- more wellness options and improved chronic disease management programs -- while containing costs. Or the exchange can be passive and simply post the ever increasing premiums from the insurance industry.

The West Virginia Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) has scheduled a series of public meetings on how the state exchange should operate.

During the public meetings, OIC officials will outline options for the exchanges and take public comments on how the exchanges should be operated. All meetings are scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM and conclude by 8:00. The meetings are scheduled for:

Tuesday, December 7, 2010
Wheeling - Wilson Lodge at Oglebay Resort & Conference Center

Tuesday, December 14, 2010
Beckley - Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center, Conference Room A

Thursday, January 6, 2011
Shepherdstown - Shepherd University, Storer Ballroom

Thursday, January 20, 1010
Charleston - Capitol Complex, Building 7, Capitol Room
