August 2011 Congressional Town Halls: Hold Your Representatives Accountable

Attend a town hall or other event and make your voice heard! (Please see below for mobile office hours and other scheduled events being held by our Senators and Representatives.)

Ask them:  

Would you support raising taxes on the rich, closing corporate tax loopholes and ending subsidies for big oil to balance the budget instead of cuts to Medicaid? The Ryan budget makes changes to Medicaid that would result in less federal Medicaid money going to states which puts more strain on our state budget or forces our state to cut off the elderly, kids and people with disabilities. 

Are you supporting tax cuts for millionaires and the wealthy when the middle class people in this district are barely getting by? For the past decade, the wealthiest people in the country have received numerous tax breaks. At the same time, we have seen large cuts to things like education, health care and public parks. 

Will you support lifting the ban that bars the government from using its purchasing power to lower the cost of prescription drugs as President Obama has called for? President Obama has called for reigning in Medicare spending in part by lifting the ban that bars the government from using its purchasing power to negotiate the price of prescription drugs with drug companies. The Veterans Administration gets the lowest drug prices in the country because it’s allowed to negotiate with drug companies. Why can’t Medicare?

Representative David McKinley will host a town hall meeting Correction- see below TONIGHT, August 10, 2011 at St. John's Evangelical Protestant Church in Wheeling.  The town hall starts at 6:30PM.  Attendees can begin arriving as early as 6:00 p.m. to sign in and submit any questions.
