Weekend Hot Dog Sales Celebrate Social Security, Promote Tax Fairness This weekend, in recognition and celebration of the Social Security Act, signed into law on August 14, 1935, West Virginians United for Social and Economic Justice, the West Virginia AFL-CIO and Central Labor Councils located in 10 cities across West Virginia will be offering hot dogs to the public for the 1935 price of 5¢. Celebrate Social Security by attending an event near you! Details of scheduled actions with Google maps are available at here. While some in congress are working overtime to protect billionaires, millionaires and tax-dodging corporations from paying thier fair share to help our economy, West Virginia progressive organizations are promoting a tongue in cheek solution to raising revenue without asking the Really Rich or tax-dodging corporations to pay their fair share of taxes. For a contribution of 5¢ per hot dog working West Virginians will be “Helping the Really Rich” address the problem of deficit reduction without raising their taxes. Events are scheduled for Point Pleasant, Beckley, Clarksburg, Martinsburg, Moundsville, South Charleston, Weirton and Wheeling. Click here for details.
