Don't Give
and Inch!
On November 6th, Americans
re-elected President Obama with a mandate — a mandate to
change the way things have been done in Washington for far
too long. It's time to end the days when the ultra-rich
can rig the system in their favor. There’s a new sheriff in
town and it’s called the American people.
But winning the election was just the beginning. As Congress
gears up for a major showdown over federal spending, we must
keep the promise of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid
and end the Bush tax cuts for the richest 2% once and for
all.
Help us send a message to Congress demanding a budget of
shared prosperity, not one that is rigged for the richest
2%.
Tell Congress: No compromises on ending the Bush tax cuts
for the richest 2%.
After years of Republicans taking our budget hostage, the
GOP knows we have the upper hand this time around.
Because even if Congress does nothing, all of the Bush tax
cuts, for both the middle class and the richest 2% are set
to expire on December 31st. If we let them expire, we can
retroactively bring back the tax cuts for the 98%, but hold
our ground against renewing them for the ultra-rich.
So the GOP will try to hold the middle class tax cuts
hostage in return for draconian cuts to Social Security,
Medicare and Medicaid — and it’s up to the Democrats in
Congress to prevent them.
Tell Congress: Don’t give an inch on ending the Bush tax
cuts for the richest 2%.
Last week, President Obama met with a group of progressives
where he promised he would not budge on the Bush tax cuts.
Now we have to show congress that the American people will
not budge either.
Tell Congress: Elections have consequences. We demand an
end to the Bush tax cuts for the top 2% now.
