Tell Congress Don't Cut Vital Programs to Increase Pentagon Spending We spend more on
weapons and war than the combined military budgets of the next 16
countries, including many U.S. allies and friends.1 But
House Republicans want to fund an increase in Pentagon spending with
more cuts to vital services – literally taking hot food from the mouths
of vulnerable seniors2 and robbing children of education and
a path to a brighter future.3 Some in
Washington have completely lost touch with the everyday struggles of
life – finding and keeping a good job, paying rent and bills on time and
taking care of our friends and family who’ve fallen behind through no
fault of their own. Sincerely, PS: Will you help make prosperity for all a reality in DC and across the country? Donate here to help us fight back against austerity and build momentum to create jobs, rein in wasteful Pentagon spending and protect vital programs. 1 - "Did the Pentagon cry wolf over sequestration?" mcclathcydc.com, May 22, 2013 2 - “Federal budget cuts caused by sequester ripple across region,” The Miami Herald, May 25, 2013 3 - "Sequester hits local Head Start,” Arizona Daily Sun, May 28, 2013 4 - “Discretionary Spending 2014,” National Priorities Project, April 10, 2013 5 - “Washington Bridge Collapse Another Sign That America’s Infrastructure Is In Bad Shape,“ ThinkProgress, May 24, 2013 6 - "Cancer clinics are turning away thousands of Medicare patients.
