"Our Children, Our Future" Vote Today

Today (Monday) is the last day to vote on the public policy agenda of the broad coalition “Our Children, Our Future.” WV-CAG has been an active supporter of this effort to end child poverty in our state.

Two issues we strongly support, the Future Fund and raising the state minimum wage, are under consideration. The Future Fund would set aside a portion of severance taxes and create a permanent trust fund to meet tomorrow’s needs for infrastructure, economic development, and job creation. Raising the state minimum wage and indexing it to inflation would give a boost to low income working families and give momentum to efforts to raise the federal minimum wage.

These issues are listed on the ballot as:

FUTURE FUND (Create a permanent mineral trust fund from a portion of severance taxes to provide a permanent source of wealth for WV.)

INDEXING MINIMUM WAGE TO INFLATION (Increasing the minimum wage and indexing to account for inflation.)
