Be Part of a Fall Forum Near You! The Our Children, Our Future (OCOF) Campaign has scheduled a series of Fall Forums throughout the state and we need you there. The Fall Forums are an opportunity to learn about what is occurring within your community and also how you can become involved with statewide policy teams working to help our families and kids. In addition, this year's Forums will have a candidate session where local House of Delegate and State Senate candidates will have the opportunity to share their perspectives on issues relating to child poverty. We are extremely excited about this addition to help you learn candidate's perspectives and also the opportunity to express to them what is important to you. In conjunction with the OCOF Campaign, WV-CAG is co-sponsoring three Forums next week in Kanawha County's 35th, 36th and 37th House of Delegates Districts. Here are the details: Monday, October 20 ~ Kanawha 37th District Forum The Our Children, Our Future Campaign — a statewide group of over 177 policy advocates, service providers, religious leaders, parents, labor and business leaders taking action to fight child poverty — invites all those who are invested in improving the lives of West Virginia’s children to attend these District Fall Forums. Join us to celebrate our successes, discuss local issues, and hear legislative candidates answer questions. Local resource information and voter registration will be available. Below is a schedule of other Fall Forums scheduled throughout the state. Details for some Forums are still being finalized. Please contact the listed organizer for more information.

29 ~ Greenbrier County Forum Get ready for a wild ride. Billionaires David and Charles Koch have been handed the ability to buy our democracy in the form of giant checks to the House, Senate, and soon, possibly even the Presidency. Brave New Films has reissued Koch Brothers Exposed in an updated version, Koch Brothers Exposed: 2014 Edition, to shine a light on them. They've delved even deeper into where their money is going, who their money is hurting, and how much they are making during this whole process leading up to the 2014 Elections. The filmmakers want to make sure everyone has an opportunity to see the truth. You'll have the opportunity see the film next Wednesday, October 22 at 7PM in Charleston at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 520 Kanawha Blvd. West. See http://www.bravenewfilms.org/koch2014 to learn more about the film. We hope to see you there! |
