MATCHING GRANT: Make WV More Energy Efficient
For a short time, your contributions to Energy Efficient West Virginia will be doubled due to a matching grant from the Blue Moon Fund. We were able to secure $28,000 worth of grants to cover part of the match, but need to raise a final $2,000. This is a great opportunity for your money to go further and for you to help make West Virginia’s economy more efficient and diverse. More

Capital Eye: Triage
Wednesday is “crossover day” when all bills must be voted out of their house of origin (Senate or House of Delegates) and pass over to the other, or be considered “dead.” Dead is in quotes because there are numerous ways for leadership to resurrect a bill after crossover, but these zombie bills are a topic for another week. Triage is the word this week – the wholesale scrapping of all bills leftover on committee dockets on "crossover day". More

Help save LEEP before it’s too late!
Unfortunately, the LEEP Act is in danger, and we need you to take action immediately! After sitting on the plate of the Energy Industry and Mining Committee for weeks, it was finally put on the agenda, unanimously approved, and sent to the full Senate. In a surprise last-minute move on the Senate floor, the bill was assigned to the “Rules Committee.” The Rules Committee is where the Senate Leadership puts bills that it wants to put the brakes on and, like purgatory, sometimes a bill never leaves. More

LEEP Act being considered by Senate Committee TOMORROW
The Local Energy Efficiency Partnership (LEEP) Act was identified as the top legislative priority in a recent meeting of energy efficiency businesses, advocates, and interested parties. If you're not familiar, LEEP is a funding mechanism that empowers commercial building owners to make their buildings more efficient and pay for the upgrades on their tax ticket. The upgrades are funded by privately held bonds that are backed by the energy savings. More

Today, President Obama will make his way to Charleston’s East End to discuss the overwhelming problem of opioid abuse and overdose in the state. The East End Family Resource Center will host the president in the Roosevelt Neighborhood Center building near the offices of WV Citizen Action Group and Energy Efficient West Virginia (EEWV). One of the problems cited as leading to widespread prescription drug abuse has the sluggish economy in West Virginia, but right across the street from where the President is speaking, residents have taken steps to improve their homes and create new jobs in energy efficiency. More
