Drug manufacturers of Xarelto, Eliquis, Januvia and other medicines targeted for negotiations pursue lawsuits to overturn the law, keep profits extreme. Rather than fight the new law with frivolous lawsuits, the drug corporations should cooperate. Negotiations will lower prices and still allow them to make a profit but without the relentless price-gouging that hurts patients and Medicare. More

Letter Calling on Biden Administration to End Price Gouging & Provide Relief to Cancer Patients
WV CAG joined other consumer protection and health care advocacy organizations in signing a letter of support calling on the Biden Administration to remedy the outrageous price discrimination against US residents by Astellas and provide relief from the high prices for the prostate cancer drug enzalutamide (brand name Xtandi). Astellas and Pfizer have failed to make the drug “available to the public on reasonable terms,” subjecting cancer patients and everyone else who pays for drug reimbursements, to highly objectionable discriminatory price gouging. More

Great News for Diabetics in West Virginia!
This year all that education and hard work paid off. SB 577 passed the Legislature! After the bill is signed by the Governor, diabetics in West Virginia will have copay caps of $35 a month for insulin and $100 a month for supplies!  More

The House passed 264 of their bills and the Senate sent 235 over to the House. Bills that never moved across the aisle are now in the recycling bin, that is unless they get amended into another bill that’s still moving. Health Care Bills to Keep an Eye On
WV-CAG and our partners in the Health Care for All-WV coalition are excited to share the news that the insulin and diabetic supplies bill (HB 2430) was introduced in the House. Another bill that could strengthen the health of West Virginians (SB 269) by raising the Medicaid Dental Benefit from $1,000 to $2,000 a year for adult recipients has advanced in the Senate. And we expect the Affordable Medicaid Buy-In bill to be introduced this week. More details here. More
