BLAC was launched in June 2021, before Juneteenth weekend. Since then, we have worked to amplify Black voices, dismantle Appalachia’s colonized narrative, and use story-based strategies and solutions that center the voices and lived experience of Black Appalachians.
A crucial part of uplifting Black communities is sound policymaking. Our virtual and free Policy Summit will provide keynote speakers and workshops that will demonstrated the importance of incorporating Black storytelling for effective policymaking.Â
