Building a WV That Works for Everyone

Every West Virginian deserves the freedom to build a life with dignity, security, and opportunity. But for too many families, that freedom is increasingly out of reach.

No one should have to choose between paying the electric bill, seeing a doctor, buying groceries, or affording rent, and every single person deserves clean air, clean water, and the dignity to make decisions about their personal property.

Every time someone is faced with these choices is a systemic and avoidable policy failure.

West Virginia Citizen Action Group and our members believe that affordability and dignity go hand in hand. People deserve to meet their basic needs, participate fully in their communities, and have a meaningful voice in the decisions that shape their lives.

Public institutions should be transparent, accountable, and responsive to all the people of West Virginia. That’s why WV Citizen Action Group and our members have developed an Affordability & Dignity Agenda, centered on three priorities:

  • Communities Over Computers calls for lower utility rates, clean air and water, and a fair energy system that protects working families instead of subsidizing corporate profits.
  • Healthcare for All, Not for Profit demands affordable, accessible care and an end to policies that put profits ahead of patients.
  • West Virginians United for Democracy focuses on making voting easier, holding public officials accountable, and giving communities a voice in the decisions that shape their future.

At the heart of this agenda is a simple belief: Affordability and dignity go hand in hand.

Through organizing and collective action, we can build a West Virginia that puts people over profit and works for everyone.
