The Fight to Protect Our Care Continues

Sunday was Medicaid’s Birthday, and last week marked the anniversary of then Congressman Arch Moore’s “YES” vote to enact Medicaid and Medicare. Ironically, 52 years later to the day, his daughter and our Senator, Shelley Moore Capito, voted to dismantle these programs. However, thanks to increasing pressure from YOU, the Senate was unable to pass any of their repeal bills — bills that would have certainly led to premature deaths, just to give the rich a tax break.

We’ve held numerous rallies, sit-ins, citizen arrests, all in an effort to fight for our health care. We are building people power and our voices are getting louder every day.

Thank you for whatever role you played in this effort to save our health care.

Unfortunately, the fight is far from over. The federal budget will be the next focus of attack. We want a budget that puts our people and planet first.

In the Trump budget, we could see large cuts to Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in addition to cuts demanded by TrumpCare. We will continue to push back on our elected officials and diligently focus our efforts on keeping YOU informed, educated and ready to take action. We have people power and when we stand up and fight for what we believe in, we can win!
