Today is Veteran’s Day and we give thanks to the proud men and women who serve in our armed forces. We want to serve them back by ensuring they keep their benefits from the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC).
These pro-work tax credits help millions of hard-working Americans – including veterans and their families – make ends meet, go to work, and provide the basics for their children.
Currently about 2 million veterans and military households use the EITC and CTC including 2.6 million children. If critical provisions within these benefits expire, about HALF of these families will lose the support of these working family tax credits.
We need to remember that all of our actions have consequences for real people in our communities. If these provisions expire, families will be left out on the cold.
P.S. Want to know more about how the EITC and CTC affects veterans and their families? Read this report from our friends at the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities.
