Thanks to you and all your hard, dedicated, work we have got our Senator Capito to so far stay true to West Virginia. She continues to express doubt and concern about the Senate healthcare bill, but make no mistake, Mitch McConnell and her party are doing everything they can to get her to a ‘Yes’ on taking care from over 200,000 of our friends and neighbors.

Charleston: #KillTheBill Rally, Press event, and Presentation of Petitions
The latest version of Trumpcare is just as cruel as the last one. Yes, they’ve thrown some sweeteners in to distract. The fact is, tens of thousands of West Virginians and millions of Americans stand to have their healthcare stripped from them. The cuts to Medicaid are still there, and with the “Cruz Amendment” it will serve to destabilize the insurance markets, lowering access and raising costs for all.
Join us tomorrow, Tuesday, July 18th as we rally to demand a “NO” vote and deliver petitions, at least a thousand signatures collected at rallies and by grassroots organizers around the state.
The Reverend Janice Hill (pictured below), who you may remember as the mother from Parkersburg who confronted Sen. Capito last month with her daugther’s battle with cancer and the how without the ACA she would likely have died. Rev. Hill will join us at this event to reiterate her message and discuss her upcoming hunger strike to save health care.

Vigilance Jefferson County to Senator Capito: “Keep your word!”
This is IT. The American Public’s resistance to the ACA Repeal and Replace, with the most unpopular bill in 30 years, all comes down to THIS DAY. Republicans expect to hold the first vote of the process of trying to jam through their latest version of the AHCA, on this day. If allowed to pass, this bill is expected to cause 122,000 West Virginia Citizens to lose their health insurance. Senator Capito has publicly promised that if she has to cast the vote that kills this bill, she WILL kill it. Vigilance and partner groups will meet with Capito’s staff to tell her to Keep Your Word — Vote NO in the very first measure — Oppose the “Motion to Proceed.” This is a NATIONWIDE Event — citizens all over the USA will be visiting local offices of their Senators to tell them to KILL THIS BILL. Last week, Senator Capito said: “If I have to be that one person to kill the healthcare bill, I will.”
The important word in that sentence is: “If.” This thing is far from over.
We have to make our message to Senator Capito very clear: “Reject any bill that cuts or caps Medicaid. This is a bad deal for West Virginia and the most vulnerable in our community, and you can’t put a band-aid on this bill.”
