Join Us to Protest AEP Rate Hikes

Energy is a human right. We need it to stay warm, cool, cook, and for some, even to breathe. It’s essential for our health and survival.

Record heat waves this summer have left vulnerable families struggling to keep power on as energy bills soar. Our electricity bills have more than doubled between 2002 to 2022. Now, AEP wants to raise them again! They made costly mistakes and want us to pay for them.

We’re taking a stand! WV Citizen Action is partnering with West Virginians for Energy Freedom, People’s Action, and 350.org to tell Appalachian Power that we can’t take more rate hikes. It’s time to reclaim our power!

Who: You! All are welcome.

What: The Rates Are Too Dang High! AEP Protest

When: Thursday, August 15 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Where: Outside of Appalachian Power, 500 Lee St E, Charleston, WV

We’ll raise our voices and signs, symbolically shred our bills (BYOB – bring your own bills!), and send AEP a clear message that we can’t keep footing the bill for their record profits!

Will you join us in this crucial fight for fair rates and sustainable energy in the face of rate hikes? RSVP to our protest here, sign our letter to the WV Public Service Commission here, and please spread the word!

*This protest is part of the National Utility Justice Week of Action, uniting communities nationwide to fight for fair utility rates and practices.
