A host of West Virginia groups to hold rally/candlelight vigil at Sen. Manchin’s Charleston WV office 4 p.m. today (Monday, Dec. 20), to express concern over his opposition to Build Back Better

A range of West Virginia-based groups deeply concerned about Sen. Joe Manchin withdrawing support of the Build Back Better Act will host a rally and candlelight vigil 4 pm. today (Monday, Dec. 20) outside Manchin’s office at 900 Pennsylvania Ave., in Charleston WV. NOTE: Organizers are tentatively planning additional events on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week with details pending.

The rally is intended to showcase the concerns of West Virginians across the state about the senator’s sudden decision to oppose the Build Back Better Act. The sweeping legislation will provide tax credits to address the climate crisis; extend child tax credits; provide for reductions in health care costs for seniors; provide assistance for child care; and many other provisions to help West Virginians throughout the state.

Among the groups taking part are the West Virginia Climate Alliance; NAACP Charleston WV branch; Reimagine Appalachia; Chesapeake Climate Action Network; American Friends Service Committee; Poor People’s Campaign WV and Race Matters West Virginia; and West Virginia Citizen Action Group.
