Here in West Virginia, we protect our own. Lawmakers must hear from you! We need everyone shouting from the rooftops. They could vote as early as today.
This is about survival. While billionaires hoard wealth, rural families are told there’s insufficient housing, health care, or food. We know that’s a lie—there’s enough for all of us if they don’t steal it.
Here’s how you can fight back:
- Call Congress: Dial 866-426-2631 (English & Spanish) and tell your Representatives to vote NO on this reckless One Big Boondoggle Bill.
- Call Sen. Capito – (304) 347-5372 or (202) 224-6472
- Call Sen. Justice – (304) 342-5855 or (202) 224-3954
- Post on social media and tag your members of Congress—make sure they know rural voices are watching.
- Write a letter, see our form below!!
The budget reconciliation package in Congress includes deep cuts and harmful restrictions to Medicaid and SNAP. The stakes for rural communities couldn’t be higher. Cuts would:
- Devastate West Virginia families – About 1 in 3 West Virginians, including half of all kids, rely on Medicaid. Medicaid covers over half of all births in West Virginia.
- Gut rural health care – 13.8 million lose coverage; clinics and hospitals could close.
- Cut food aid – $290B+ slashed from SNAP while grocery costs rise. SNAP helps more than 150,000 children in our state get enough to eat.
- Shift costs to states – Rural states would bear the burden as federal support vanishes.
