Capital Eye Vol. 18 No. 11: Power to the People

Thank you for helping build the people power West Virginia needs to fight back and win.

We’re being asked to accept the unacceptable: dirty data centers, fossil-fueled 50-by-50 energy plans, and industry deals that raise electric bills, increase pollution, and take away local control. At the same time, our families are being crushed by rising healthcare costs, and politicians who treat our National Guard and affordable healthcare like a bargaining chip rather than addressing our needs.

West Virginians deserve better, and we’re done asking politely.

As we move into 2026, our top priorities are:

    • Building and supporting local chapters statewide, so communities can identify positive actions they can take together
    • Standing up to dirty data centers that put clean air, community health, local democracy, and affordable power at risk
    • Expanding community air monitoring, so more West Virginians have real data to protect their health and hold polluters accountable
    • Making healthcare more affordable and pushing a system that puts people over profiteers
    • Strengthening our democracy by defending ballot access, holding state and local officials accountable, and training you on how to protect your power, voice, and communities

As we close out 2025, this newsletter edition celebrates this year’s milestones, challenges, and accomplishments.

Thank you for supporting WV Citizen Action as we take on the forces driving up bills, poisoning our communities, and stripping communities of control.

In this issue:

This work takes time and money, but it’s the only way to resist and make lasting change.

If you believe West Virginia should be shaped by and for its people, not by big industry’s profiteers, please donate today and help us continue building real people power in 2026.

Thank you for being part of this movement.

With gratitude,

— The WV Citizen Action Board & Staff
