Monday at 5:30PM: Say NO to Higher Power Bills!
AEP is requesting a nearly $650 Million rate hike that, if approved by the Public Service Commission, YOU get to pay for. Our electric rates have doubled in the last 10 years and this will just make rates go higher. On Monday, July 24th at 5:30pm, please show up at the ground floor hearing room at the PSC headquarters, located at 201 Brooks Street in Charleston, WV, and tell the PSC and AEP “NO!” to rate hikes on the backs of West Virginians. We can’t afford ever increasing electric bills. More

Charging West Virginians: How utility and PSC actions continue to increase electricity bills
Electricity in West Virginia is generated almost exclusively from coal-fired power plants. Other states have taken steps to diversify their fuel mixes, but West Virginia has taken a different approach. Decisions made by utilities and the Public Service Commission (PSC) have facilitated the state’s continued, near-exclusive reliance on coal. As detailed in this report, these decisions have had realworld consequences for West Virginians who pay more and more for their electricity according to a new report prepared for West Virginia Citizen Action Group, Energy Efficient West Virginia, and Solar United Neighbors by Downstream Strategies. Tell FirstEnergy: No More Bailouts for Expensive, Polluting Coal
FirstEnergy's regulated West Virginia electric utilities, Monongahela Power Company and The Potomac Edison Company, are considering buying the Pleasants Power Station, a 1,300 megawatt coal plant that is scheduled to retire this summer. If FirstEnergy customers are forced to bail out this failing plant, the plant could continue polluting our climate, water, and air for many more years. Send their CEO a message now and tell them why you as a customer don't want them to purchase any more dirty, expensive coal plants.
