People’s Action Letter – Re.: Need for a Secretary of Labor Ready to Usher in Structural Reforms
COVID-19 has revealed and exacerbated the extreme inequality that has come to be the norm in our country. That’s not how it’s always been; and that’s not how it needs to be. There were times in our history when this extreme division wasn’t the case. Our current stability as a country depends on us getting back to a more equitable society. Cabinet positions and other key personnel in federal agencies are critical for advancing the necessary agenda. More

IN THE NEWS: ATF Statement on Trump Tax-Dodging Scandal Revealed by the New York Times
Yesterday, the New York Times released a major investigative story about President Trump’s taxes, showing that in 11 out of 18 years from 2000 to 2017 he paid no federal income taxes. He paid a paltry $750 in 2016, the year he first ran for president, and again in 2017, his first year in office, when he rammed through a major tax cut that largely benefited wealthy people like himself... RACE-CLASS: OUR PROGRESSIVE NARRATIVE
Both economic and racial justice are core progressive priorities, but too often we discuss them separately. In fact, racial and economic harms are intertwined as are our desired solutions to them. Wealthy elites exploit racial fears to turn working people against each other and government; economic pain increases racial resentment, fueling anti-immigrant sentiment and lending credence to the notion of a “rural-urban” divide... IN THE NEWS: How incremental healthcare reforms built the industries we’re fighting today (Part One)
There’s a common joke among single payer advocates that America’s healthcare system is not a “system” at all, in that its pieces don’t function or connect to each other particularly well, and that it has come together relatively ad-hoc, rather than being intentionally designed. This is certainly accurate in some respects. When you think about it, from providers to insurance companies to drug manufacturers the majority of the actual provision of healthcare in... More

HB 4615 is Un-American: Testimony Against Anti-Protest Bill
Protest is part of our nation’s founding history. This bill about as un-American as it gets! HB 4615 a slippery slope toward the tyranny against which the original Tea Party protesters acted. It should be thrown in the trash heap of terrible legislative proposals and left to rot there. More
