Recycling Competition Bill in Senate Judiciary TODAY
We need you to contact the committee and voice your support for the bill. Let the Senate Judiciary Committee members know: 1. You think there need to be more choices in recycling in West Virginia so families and businesses have the option to responsibly deal with their waste, 2. That allowing for some small nonprofit cooperatives to increase recycling rates helps grow the local economy, and 3. That you support SB 352. More

Week 5: Halfway
Thursday was the halfway point in this session and we are fast approaching the last day to introduce bills in the Senate (Monday, February 23) and House (Tuesday, February 24). So far 1,243 bills have been introduced. The week started with a great press conference on protecting our water with speakers from WV Environmental Council member groups, the WV Council of Churches, and Charleston NAACP - all calling for keeping our drinking water clean and safe, and opposing legislation to roll back protections. Our water warrior, Karan Ireland, moderated the event and gave a strong personal testimony to kick it off. More

An exciting week of events
Support Clean Water by Attending the public hearing on Monday February 16 at 8:30 am in the House of Delegates Chamber at the state capitol on House Bill 2289, a DEP bill that would reclassify the Kanawha River as a Catagory A drinking water source. This would allow a secondary drinking water intake to be built on the Kanawha River. Having a secondary intake would make the 300,000 people who depend on Charleston's water far less likely to lose their water again as they did last year. More
