A summary of WV SORO's actions on bills during the 2024 West Virginia Legislature's regular session, which ended March 9th. Also land agents are going door to door trying to get surface owners to sign away rights to the pore space in the rock formations under their land, and we need to educate surface owners about that. Crossover Chaos
The House passed 264 of their bills and the Senate sent 235 over to the House. Bills that never moved across the aisle are now in the recycling bin, that is unless they get amended into another bill that’s still moving. Now the race continues until midnight this Saturday, when all activity of the 2023 legislative session grinds to a halt. More

Don’t Sacrifice West Virginia’s Rights to Fair and Equal Protections Under Federal Law
"We're calling on Congressional leadership to put a stop to this reckless and unfair legislation. Send a message to Congress now that fast-tracking the Mountain Valley Pipeline would deprive West Virginians of the right to fair and equal treatment under federal law. Tell them to keep the Energy Independence and Security Act out of the budget continuing resolution." More

Life After Session
Out of the 2,216 bills introduced during the 2022 legislative session, only 239 survived. Lots of really bad bills died, along with most of the good ones. Not an uplifting appraisal but... it could have been much worse. More
