Legislature Abdicates Responsibility on ARPA Funds, but Governor Justice Can Still Do the Right Thing
On March 7th, advocates gathered at the Capitol to draw attention to the many justice and fairness issues legislators have either ignored or worsened this session, and to demand that a portion of the state’s remaining American Rescue Plan Act funds be invested in West Virginia families and communities. This year all that education and hard work paid off. SB 577 passed the Legislature! After the bill is signed by the Governor, diabetics in West Virginia will have copay caps of $35 a month for insulin and $100 a month for supplies!  More

Tell FirstEnergy: No More Bailouts for Expensive, Polluting Coal
FirstEnergy's regulated West Virginia electric utilities, Monongahela Power Company and The Potomac Edison Company, are considering buying the Pleasants Power Station, a 1,300 megawatt coal plant that is scheduled to retire this summer. If FirstEnergy customers are forced to bail out this failing plant, the plant could continue polluting our climate, water, and air for many more years. Send their CEO a message now and tell them why you as a customer don't want them to purchase any more dirty, expensive coal plants. More

PEIA Bill A Hard New Reality for Public Employees and Their Families
If you are a PEIA member who makes $28,101 to $38,101 per year, your premium will go up from $234 to $294.83 a month. With an extra $147 a month for a spouse who chooses PEIA over their own employer-provided insurance. That raises the monthly premium to $441.83. Border counties have to pay an even higher premium with 10% more. If you are a non-Medicare retiree, expect your premium to go up around 7%. More
